The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM) is excited to partner with the Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) by providing online learning opportunities. The courses provided by OSFM are designed to educate and provide a resource for firefighters across the state.
Under this joint venture, departments and firefighters can easily access OSFM programing as well as have access to additional coursework and resources through IFSI.
OSFM and IFSI have made it a goal to offer as many online firefighting and EMS courses as possible. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the courses currently being offered on the IFSI Virtual Campus.
Some of the online and on-demand OSFM programing are reference tools only, so the user will not receive a grade. Also, some programs are not for credit, so participants will not receive an IFSI certificate of attendance.
It is up to your organization’s training program to decide if CEUs are earned and documented when accessing the coursework. An on-demand classroom provides 6-month open access.
The OSFM content was developed by OSFM subject matter experts. If you have any questions specific to the content of the reference material please contact the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
The OSFM online on-demand courses has Knowledge Checks. The purpose of Knowledge Checks is to give the user an idea of how well he or she understands the materials. The Knowledge Checks are ungraded and allow Learning Objectives to be self-assessed by each user.
