On January 20, 2006, Firefighter Roger W. Armstrong of the Atlanta Fire Department suffered a fatal heart attack in the line of duty while on a mutual aid alarm for a residential fire in Waynesville, Illinois. While engaging in firefighting operations, Armstrong reported that he felt ill. He was treated by emergency medical responders at the scene and then transported to BroMenn Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 1:30AM on January 21.
