Danville Fire Department Lieutenant Chad Busick was awarded the Medal of Valor for his efforts to save a victim from a late-night residential fire.
On September 4, 2021, a fire broke out at a house in Danville. There was a large amount of smoke and heavy fire conditions, and firefighters were alerted a family member was trapped inside. Lt. Busick first attempted to enter the home through the door, but the heat was so intense some of his gear and air pack were damaged. He then made entry through a window, locating and retrieving the victim. The victim was given life-saving care, and the fire was extinguished.
