On November 18, 2008, Firefighter Steven “Tiny” Kline suddenly collapsed while on duty with the Stone Park Fire Department. He was transported to Gotlieb Hospital in Melrose Park where he was pronounced dead.
A thirteen year veteran of the fire service, Kline was a firefighter/paramedic for the Stone Park Fire Department, the Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District, the Bensenville Fire Department, and the New Lenox Fire and Ambulance District. He also served as a fire instructor for a variety of organizations, including the Illinois Fire Service Institute, and taught numerous public fire safety and prevention classes during his career.
Kline was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Morris on November 24, 2008, following a funeral service at the Morris Fire Protection District Station 2 that was attended by more than 250 area firefighters.
