On September 22, 1985, Chicago Fire Department Lieutenant Bernard Rogers died in the line of duty when he suffered a heart attack while at the Engine 120 firehouse. Attempts by his fellow firefighters to revive Rogers were unsuccessful and he was taken to St. Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Rogers was a thirty year member of the department and was reported to have been in excellent physical condition at the time of his death.
