On May 19, 1961, Chicago Fire Department Chief Patrick Lyons of Battalion 3 suffered a fatal heart attack during a residential fire on Sedgwick Street. Lyons collapsed while directing firefighting operations. He was rushed to Grant Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
