On May 18, 1963, Chicago Fire Department Captain Louis A. Pfannkuche of Engine 106 suffered a fatal stroke while on duty at the Engine 106 firehouse.
Funeral services for Pfannkuche were held at John M. Pederson & Sons Funeral Chapel on May 21, and he was buried at Montrose Cemetery.
