On April 30, 1966, Chicago Fire Department Firefighter James J. McLaughlin of Squad 8 suffered a fatal heart attack while on duty at department headquarters.
Funeral services for McLaughlin were held at St. Gall Church on May 3, and he was buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery. He was survived by his widow, two children, and four siblings.
