On February 21, 1965, Chicago Fire Department Firefighter Richard J. Franzen was seriously injured when he was thrown from Truck 20 while returning from an alarm. Franzen was admitted to St. Bernard’s Hospital for treatment, where he died on April 14, 1865, as a result of his injuries.
