On November 2, 1930, Chicago Fire Department Firefighter Walter Taube of Truck 23 was fatally injured following a vehicle collision at the intersection of Grace Street and Lockwood Avenue. Taube’s fire truck was struck by a stolen car driven by a teenager, and he was pinned between the truck and a tree. Taube died the following day, November 3, at Belmont Hospital.
