Incident Summary

On June 26, 1929, Chicago Fire Department Firefighter Joseph Schott of Squad 5 was fatally injured in the line of duty. Schott was injured when he was caught between two fire trucks that collided at the intersection of 58th Street and St. Lawrence Avenue. He died from his injuries at St. Bernard’s Hospital on June 30.

Funeral services for Schott were held at St. Rita’s Church on July 3, and he was buried at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
