On January 6, 1928, Chicago Fire Department Lieutenant John R. Jackson of Engine 19 died in the line of duty while responding to a false alarm on Indiana Avenue. Jackson was killed in a vehicle collision at the intersection of 35th Street and Indiana Avenue when Engine 19 skidded in the snow and collided with Truck 11.
