In late February 2013, Associate Director Brian Brauer visited northern Europe to meet with one of IFSI's partners and to attend two days of research collaboration meetings at Vrije University in Amsterdam. The first visit was to Draeger in Lubeck, Germany. Brauer toured the company's factory, and was given a guided tour that focused on the company's rich history. The visit culminated with ongoing discussions about future collaborations between Draeger and IFSI. The second stop on the trip was to Vrije University in Amsterdam, the oldest public university in the Netherlands. There Brauer attended two sets of meetings, the first with practitioners from around the Netherlands, and the second with researchers from the UK, UI, Finland, and Netherlands. The end result is the development of a multi-national research agenda, which will aid the universities and practitioners in the application for EU and other grant sources to research our common issues.
