    • The largest fire and emergency response collection in Illinois, including the best audiovisual and periodical collections
    • Library and information services and literacy support for both fire and emergency service personnel and the general public
    • Interlibrary loan services that deliver library materials to a patron’s local library at no charge
    • Statewide leader in preserving, managing and sharing history and knowledge in the fire service, including the creation of IFLODD: The Illinois Firefighter Line of Duty Deaths Digital Image Collection Database
    • Member since 1998 of the Lincoln Trail Libraries System- one of eight regional library systems in Illinois
    • Member of inFIRE (international network for Fire Information and Reference Exchange) a worldwide consortium of fire and emergency libraries
