On August 28, 1883, Chicago Fire Department Truckman Charles Albert of Truck 5 was fatally injured in the line of duty while fighting a fire on Blair Street. Albert was injured when he fell off a ladder during firefighting operations.
Albert died from his injuries on August 31, and he was survived by his widow and five children.
