Bio:Ray Palczynski serves as IFSI’s Special Operations Training Program (SOTP) Director. In that role, Ray is responsible for overseeing the program managers for hazardous materials, confined space rescue, rope rescue, structural collapse rescue, trench rescue, vehicle/machinery rescue and rapid intervention training. He is also responsible for planning strategic direction for the SOTP.
Over the years Ray has contributed to a number of presentations including Instructor I & II, hazardous materials training, live burn training and basic firefighting skills training and is actively involved in developing a new program for large animal rescue. Ray also serves as the Cornerstone Regional Representative for Northwestern and Western Illinois.
As a part of the fire service since 1987 and prior to joining IFSI, Ray was with the Davenport, Iowa Fire Department for 25 years and retired at the rank of Lieutenant and Fire Police Investigator. He is also currently a Certified Peace Officer in the State of Iowa and works part time for the Scott County, Iowa Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshal Service.
Ray holds an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from Blackhawk College in Moline, Illinois, a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science from Western Illinois University and a Master’s of Public Administration from City University, Bellevue, Washington. Ray also is a graduate of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in Johnston, Iowa.
