Bio:Brian Burgess joined the IFSI Curriculum and Testing Office in September of 2020. As a Curriculum Support Specialist, he focusses on Curriculum Development, Management, and Modification. Working along with Program Directors, Managers, and Curriculum Designers, Curriculum Support Specialists strive to further the mission of IFSI, Helping Firefighters Do Their Work Through Training, Education, Information, and Research.Brian started his fire service career as a volunteer with the Williamson County Fire Protection District where he has served the district in many capacities including many different officer roles. In 2012 Brian was promoted to Battalion Chief. Brian earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in Special Education in 1994 followed by a Master’s Degree in Special Education in 1996. In 2009 he earned a second Master’s Degree in Educational Administration again from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He spent 20+ years in public education prior to joining IFSI. During his tenure in public education, Brian worked with the Williamson County Career and Technical Educational Cooperative and Local School Districts to start the first Williamson County High School Fire Science Academy for high school students interested in a career in public service. Additionally, he served students with disabilities as a Teacher and Technology Facilitator. |
