Job Description: Assumes daily direction of library operation. Provides management decision-making authority over library administrative and professional functions and operations, and provides recommendations to the Fire Service Institute Executive Management Team on library policy and strategic direction. Coordinates library activities and programs at each of the following five levels: 1) University campus and its library systems; 2) Illinois fire departments, State fire organizations, and the Fire Service Institute's regional training centers; 3)Illinois State Library and its regional systems; 4) National fire libraries (e.g., National Emergency Training Center) within state and national organizations (e.g., Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Federal Emergency Management Agency), 5)International fire libraries group, inFIRE (the international network for Fire Information and Reference Exchange), a worldwide fire library consortium).Scope of library operations include: selecting, acquiring, organizing, maintaining, utilizing, and disseminating (internally and externally) fire media resources and services.
