Driver/Operator

Program Description

The Illinois Fire Service Institute's Driver/Operator program offers a wide range of courses to train Firefighters who drive and operate fire department apparatus. Course topics include the safe operation of aerial apparatus, proper pump operation, fireground hydraulic calculations, safe driving operations, hydrant water supply operations, and mobile water supply operations. All of these courses are based on NFPA 1002, Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications. All of the traditional courses can be conducted at your department using your apparatus and equipment, and many are offered at no cost through the Cornerstone Program.
