Applications for Spring EMT Class Open Now!!
Wed Nov 28, 2018
Applications for the spring EMT class are now open.
EMTs are on the front line of emergency pre-hospital care and make life and death decisions on a daily basis. The major objective of the course is to prepare students for the work in the various occupational settings relating to emergency health services and the emergency medical service system. IEMS has developed an academically and physically challenging EMT course that stresses academic and clinical abilities, interpersonal skills, critical thinking processes, decision-making abilities, and the capacity for quick and appropriate judgment. Graduates of the program are prepared to interact effectively with other EMS personnel, manage an emergency medical response from start to finish, and satisfy certification requirements from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as well as the State of Illinois Department of Public Health Division of EMS and Highway Safety. IEMS boasts an excellent first-time pass rate for those who go on to take the NREMT exam.
Applications are open until December 14, 2018 at 12pm. The link to the application can be found at https://www.fsi.illinois.edu/iems/register.cfm?activity=201900613. We look forward to reading your application!
With PulsePoint AED you can help strengthen the chain of survival for cardiac arrest victims. Download PulsePoint AED for free and use it to report AEDs in your community. Describe the location, snap a picture, and the information is stored for local authorities to verify. After that, the AED location data is made available to anyone using PulsePoint Respond (also available for free in the App Store). PulsePoint Respond is the app that alerts citizen responders who know CPR to local emergencies near them and also to the location of the nearest AED.
The IEMS Office is located on the Mezzanine Level, which can be accessed through the “Catering” door located next to the Credit Union in the Union. If you have any questions, please feel free to call our office at (217) 333-9492 between the hours of 9:00 am and 6:00 pm
