On June 6, 1968, Assistant Chief Donald A. Beaudin of the Highwood Fire Department suffered a fatal heart attack while on duty with the Highwood Fire Department.
A volunteer member of the department for eighteen years, Beaudin worked at the Moraine Service Station near the firehouse, so he was often the first firefighter to respond to an alarm.
Funeral services for Beaudin were held at the Seguin Funeral Chapel on June 8, and he was survived by his widow and three children.
