On January 26, 2006, Assistant Chief Harold Vernon Taylor of the Central Warren County Fire Protection District suffered a fatal heart attack in the line of duty. Taylor responded to a fire alarm for a structure fire, but he reported feeling ill when he arrived at the fire station. Taylor returned to his home, where he collapsed. He was transported to the hospital, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
