Incident Summary
On December 20, 2004, Firefighter Theodore Arthur Myhre of the Bishop Hill Fire Department died in the line of duty. Myhre and other firefighters responded to a traffic accident in a fire department pumper truck, but were released from the incident by law enforcement officials. As the fire apparatus maneuvered into a driveway to turn around, Myhre exited the vehicle to control and direct traffic. As he stood in the road with a flashlight, Myhre was struck by a civilian vehicle, and he died from his injuries.
