On December 28, 1924, Chicago Fire Department Firefighter Sigurd Christofferson of Truck 7 was fatally injured in the line of duty while responding to a restaurant fire on West Roosevelt Road. Christofferson, a seventeen year veteran of the department, was thrown from Truck 7 when it struck a road abutment at the intersection of Lake Street and Oakley Boulevard. He was treated at Midwest Hospital, where he died from his injuries on January 4, 1925.
