Bio:In his role as Associate Director, Brian is responsible for providing strategic direction for all capital projects and overseeing day-to-day operations relative to facility management. The facilities include an extensive inventory of realistic props for firefighter training on the 27-acre IFSI Champaign campus. Under Brian’s leadership, IFSI completed and dedicated the Learning Resource and Research Center in 2011.
Prior to being named Associate Director, Brian was an Assistant Director for IFSI, Fire Fighting Program Director, and a Field Staff Instructor. Brian currently serves on the Edge-Scott Fire Protection District as a Captain of Operations. He was previously Captain of Training and began his firefighter career with Edge-Scott in 1992 as a firefighter. Brian holds a number of certifications in the fire service and EMS and is a registered nurse.
Brian has been published in a number of trade publications and has made numerous presentations around the United States and in 2012, traveled to China to present to the Chinese Peoples Armed Forces Police Academy. He is active with the University of Illinois College of Communications and Vrije University in Amsterdam studying first responder communication.
He has been active in the Boy Scouts of America, received numerous awards and recognitions and became an Eagle Scout in 1990. He was also honored in 2010 with the Forty under 40 award from Central Illinois Business Magazine.
Brian holds Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Illinois Chicago, a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is expected to complete his Doctorate in Human Resource Development from the University of Illinois in early 2015.
