NO COST N-95 RESPIRATOR DECONTAMINATION FOR ILLINOIS FIRST RESPONDERS

As first responders across the country face a shortage of N-95 respirators, Battelle CCDS Critical Care Decontamination System™, a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funded contractor available through the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) is providing a NO cost N-95 respirator decontamination service. The Battelle Decontamination System which allows for reuse of the N-95 masks is available to all first responders (Police, Fire and EMS) in the State of Illinois, at no cost.

Critical information related to this program is listed below. In addition, several procedural resources to facilitate participation in the service are included in the links below.

Process:

• Review the N-95 Mask Chart to determine if department masks are treatable via the Battelle Decontamination System.
• To ensure no cost, carefully read the shipping instructions on the “Instructions for Battelle N-95 Mask Decontamination” document.
• First response agencies are responsible for the cost of the shipment box – mailing supplies are not covered.
• When shipping via FedEx ensure the UN3373 placard is displayed on the box.
