Fire Prevention / Public Education : 4-16 Hours

The course is designed for individuals whose primary responsibilities do not include the areas of a traditional fire prevention bureau. Topics include fire causes and their prevention, the importance of inspections, and public education. Time is spent on established public education programs to include fire station tours, dwelling inspections, and life safety programs for the home, school and work.
Additionally, the student will demonstrate public education activities to include Stop-Drop-and-Roll, Exit Drills In The Home, Crawl Low in Smoke, giving fire station tours, and checking or maintaining residential smoke detectors.
