The Challenge Exam for the NFPA Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations is designed to give trained responders the opportunity to obtain national certification. Evaluations, including a written exam and multiple skill stations, will be conducted over one day. Upon successful completion of this objective process, national certification is awarded to the candidate, and the candidate’s name will be entered in both the IFSAC and ProBoard registries.
Written Test: There is a 100-question written exam (25 Awareness questions / 75 Operations questions). Candidates are given one attempt. Additional attempts at the written exam can be scheduled at a regional test site at a later date. There will be an additional fee for written exam retakes.
