Due to the demand for alternative fuels, Illinois is experiencing a major increase in the production and transportation of Ethanol. While you may not have an Ethanol plant in your community, you are sure to see it in transportation.

IFSI is pleased to offer five videos to help you understand how ethanol differs from regular pump gasoline and the need for and use of alcohol resistant foams.

You are encouraged to view the videos in the order they are listed.




Video One

This video shows why you need to use Alcohol Resistant foam for polar solvents.

Video Two
 This presentation shows the actual membrane that gives Alcohol Resistant foam it's ability to work on Alcohol (Polar Solvent) products.

 In this video you will see the difference in flame type of E-85 and E-95

 Proper application of Alcohol Resistant foam is important. This video shows how to effectively apply AR foam.

Ethanol is a polar solvent meaning it mixes with water and can be diluted. In this presentation you will see that just applying water to an ethanol fire will not work.
