Project Overview:As heart attacks represent the leading cause of death for firefighters, IFSI is dedicated to researching all methods of reducing heart disease in our constituency. In line with the Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives developed by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, IFSI carries out Firefighter Fitness Testing and Training during each of its Firefighter II Academies. This long-term research program has been developed to understand firefighters perceptions of their own health and how those perceptions change as a fitness program is initiated. The project will track long-term health and wellness of firefighters who complete the Academy with fitness training and those who do not
