IFSI conducts hands-on training at the local campus located on the University of Illinois campus in Champaign-Urbana as well as at remote sites throughout the state. Remote training takes place at regional training centers, regional hosts, or local hosts. Information about each type of relationship between IFSI and remote hosts is listed below.
Information about the local IFSI burn facilities in Champaign-Urbana
There are two types of RTCs: IFSI and ITTF. (Most RTCs are both)
IFSI RTCs have a written Memoranda of Agreement with IFSI to host IFSI classes on a routine long-term basis.
An IFSI RTC may serve for one or more Program / subject areas, depending on facilities and props.
Site has, at a minimum, adequate facilities and props to conduct Operations level training.
Site and classes are open to other fire departments in the region, per established criteria.
IFSI RTCs:
ITTF RTCs have a written Memoranda of Agreement with IEMA to host training for the state designated technical rescue and hazardous materials teams using IFSI and ODP approved curriculum and instructors. IFSI will monitor this training to ensure consistency across the state.
ITTF RTCs must be open to all state designated teams.
ITTF RTCs cannot charge students, departments, nor teams for use of facilities and props that were paid for by ODP funds.
A fire department or organization that on a year to year basis agrees to cooperate with IFSI to schedule, advertise, and host regional classes or fire schools.
Individual fire department or organization that contracts with IFSI on a one-time or periodic basis to host an IFSI class, either for it's own members and or neighboring agencies.
