As the oldest and one of the most highly regarded fire colleges in the nation, the Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) offers a wide variety of courses designed to fill the essential training role necessary for today's complex industrial safety issues. Class participants take part in "real life" fire fighting and rescue operations, EMS, hazardous materials incidents, and terrorism response, allowing companies to be prepared for virtually any industrial emergency.
To facilitate the training needs of clients in a variety of fields, curriculum is customized to meet specific industrial guidelines and requirements. To overcome logistics problems, courses can be offered on-site at the client's facility, at the Institutes 28-acre training facility on the University of Illinois campus in Champaign, Illinois, or at regional training facilities located throughout the state.. IFSI can help companies achieve their long-term training objectives by developing a complete program or simply offering a single course.
We make the assets of the university available to the business community the way you want and need them. We serve industry, small business, government and non-profit agencies, providing experienced staff in a variety of disciplines to analyze training needs, assess employee skill levels and recommend and implement the optimal training program to meet your needs. Because IFSI understands that each client's situation is unique and each training program is unique, we offer customized training and education services that are developed specifically to meet your needs on a one-time or ongoing basis.
IFSI is a member of the Illinois Terrorism Task Force and helping developing Critical Infrastructure Protection Training in accordance with the Department of Homeland Security National Incident Management System (NIMS).
The courses taught through IFSI use standards (ISO, OSHA, NFPA, etc.) They are NIMS compliant and can meet EMS CEU as well as ACE college credit.
